威廉·勃特勒·叶芝,现代爱尔兰著名抒情诗人和作家。本世纪初爱尔兰文艺复兴运动的领导人之一。由于他的“始终富于灵感的诗歌,并因为他以高度的艺术形式表达了整个民族的精神”而获得1923年度诺贝尔文学奖。他是后期象征主义诗歌的主要代表,对现代英语诗歌的发展有过重大影响。
