Mark Lamming tiene una vida perfecta. Afamado escritor de biografías literarias, está felizmente casado con Diana, una galerista de arte. Ahora investiga la vida de Gilbert Strong, escritor, ensayista y dramaturgo, y sus pesquisas le llevan hasta Dean Close, antiguo hogar del autor.
